This is post one of a series I want to write on the Healing Ministry that God calls us to. I recently read the most amazing book filled with, overflowing in fact with, verses from God about the healing ministry He wants us to walk in. It’s a fiction book but written almost as a manual to believers who want to follow Jesus by speaking His great news of salvation and by healing the sick. I want to give credit to the author, Dee Henderson, and link her book here: https://amzn.to/3UK99NG (Commissioned link) Many of the thoughts and words in these posts are from her book, along with some other things God is teaching me that I am so excited to share!!
Lesson 1
God doesn’t lie. Believe this.
First and foremost, we need to understand and believe that God does not lie. What he speaks in His word is 100% absolute truth – whether we see it or not. Whether we understand it or not. God doesn’t lie.
Hebrews 6:18 God cannot tell lies! And so his promises and vows are two things that can never be changed.
Numbers 23:19 God is not a human being, and he will not lie. He is not a human, and he does not change his mind. What he says he will do, he does. What he promises, he makes come true.
Titus 1:2 Then they will have the hope of eternal life God promised long ago. And God never tells a lie!
1 Samuel 15:29 Also the Glory of Israel will not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man that He should change His mind.
2 Timothy 2:13 Even if we no longer trust Him, He will still be someone that people can trust. He will always remain true to His nature.
God doesn’t lie! He can’t lie! If God says that He heals diseases, then He does. If He says, “By His (Jesus) stripes, we are healed” then we are. Before we can begin walking in the healing ministry, we have to understand this basic principle. God doesn’t lie. So everything God says and teaches about healing must be true.
The problem is, we sometimes pray and don’t see healing happen. And instead of asking God to show us what is going on, we change our thinking. Our whole doctrine begins to shift. So – God says He is our healer – but we didn’t see healing, therefore yeah, sure, God is a healer but not all the time. Not in some circumstances. Sometimes He does, sometimes He doesn’t. Then we start filling in the missing pieces out of our own knowledge, or worse yet, by believing the lies of the enemy.
We have to come back to the basic fact – God doesn’t lie. If our experience doesn’t match up to what God has said – We need to have the faith to say… but God doesn’t lie. I may not understand at this moment, but I know that I know that God doesn’t lie. Then we trust God’s word and not our own experience. We ask Holy Spirit to teach us what we are missing. We keep searching. We ask God and bring Him our questions. But we don’t turn on what God has said. We don’t change God’s words. We can’t allow our belief in who God is to shift because our Earthly experience doesn’t match up to what we think it should look like.
There are warnings about what happens when we don’t believe God. When we begin to shift our thinking to match our experiences rather than what God says. When we begin to doubt God, it’s the beginning of an unbelieving heart which will lead us away from God.
Hebrews 3:12 So brothers and sisters, be careful that none of you has an evil, unbelieving heart that will turn you away from the living God.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith no one can please God. We must believe that God is real and rewards everyone who searches for him.
James 1:6 But when you ask for something, you must have faith and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like an ocean wave tossed around in a storm.
How can we believe and not doubt? Because… God doesn’t lie. (Lesson 1) We can hold onto the truth because God doesn’t lie. When you read something in God’s word that doesn’t seem to match up to your life experiences – you can still believe because God doesn’t lie. Knowing that God doesn’t lie gives us the strength to hold onto His word, even when we don’t understand it at the moment.
Can I end with an encouragement for you? God gives us every good gift!
James 1:17 Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same.
Do you know the good gifts that God gives us? Can you name them? Do you believe them? Remember – God doesn’t lie. God gives really spectacular FREE gifts. It would be good if we knew what they were and held them close!
Psalms 103:1-2 O my soul, bless God, From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name! O my soul, bless God, don’t forget a single blessing!
3-5 He forgives your sins—every one.
He heals your diseases—every one.
He redeems you from hell—saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown.
He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal.
He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence.
Because God doesn’t lie, we can hold onto these gifts, these blessings, and know that we know that we know that they are ours! God forgives us! Heals us! Saves us! Gives us love and mercy and goodness! Thank you, God!
